Paper Recycling
Taking care of our trees
When we were children we learnt that paper comes from trees – and, generally, our young minds found that pretty incredible. But, as we got older, we start to take this for granted. And that’s because paper is everywhere, from newspapers and magazines, leaflets and brochures, to good old-fashioned A4 sheets. We use it every day, in so many different situations, that we almost forget where it came from. But, instead of treating paper like an endless resource, now, more than ever, we need to remember its roots. By recycling just one tonne of paper, we can save 17 trees and 4000KW of energy – that’s enough to power a house for a year.
Paper can be recycled up to 7 times
When clean and uncontaminated, paper has the potential to be recycled up to 7 times. And doing so uses 70% less energy than making new (virgin) paper, saves us having to cut down trees and creates a circular economy.
Did you know…
If every person in the UK recycled just 10% more paper, we would save approximately 5 million trees each year!
