Team Printwaste let their moustaches grow free for Movember!
November is upon us – and with it staff here at Printwaste Recycling and Shredding Cheltenham has put together a moustache growing team, and are busy grooming their facial ferrets in support of Movember; the annual global movement where men channel their ‘inner Tom Selleck’ to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. More than 3 million men will be participating this month across 21 countries worldwide.
The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. Team Printwaste hope to raise £1000 sponsorship to assist in the research treatments for preventative cures.
Movember participant and our Warehouse Operative Mike Jackson said “we are having a bit of mo rivalry amongst the team here, and whilst it is fun to take part, Movember raises the profile of men’s health issues. I wanted to support the month, as a close friend of mine was recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. It was a wakeup call to me”.
According to charity Prostate Cancer UK, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and is the second largest cause of male cancer deaths in the UK. Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer and over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. One in eight men in the UK will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, the level of awareness, understanding and support for prostate cancer lags significantly behind that of women’s health causes.
