Polystyrene recycling: a big issue made small

Business RecyclingPlasticsPolystyrene

We’ve all been there, new furniture, new computer equipment, all neatly installed and leaving a mountain of waste cardboard, electricals and polystyrene. Most waste contractors will take cardboard and electricals but find polystyrene to be a BIG problem, leaving you with a headache.

Polystyrene

Did you know, at Printwaste we collect polystyrene too? This means that all of your waste can be handled by a single provider – one provider, under one roof.

Polystyrene: 98% air, 100% recyclable

It may be light and appear relatively harmless, but polystyrene disposal is a big problem. As polystyrene is 98% air, it takes up a huge amount of space, making it difficult to transport. It also takes up a lot of space in landfill and and takes thousands of years to degrade.

Cutting your waste down to size

We can collect your waste polystyrene and ensure it is disposed of properly. Firstly, we ensure that transport is made commercially viable by compressing the polystyrene down to 1/40th of its size at our high security shredding site, where a 40ft lorry of polystyrene can be reduced to fit on a single pallet!

Once this is done, we send it on to a processing centre where it is recycled into all manner of new products including Polystyrene insulation & packaginghardboard furniture, and CD/DVD cases.
