Frequently asked questions
Which metals can be recycled?
We can collect and recycle most metals your business uses, including aluminium, brass, copper, iron, steel and tin.
How do you categorise recyclable metals?
Recyclable metals typically fall into two categories. Ferrous metals contain iron and carbon and include alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron and wrought iron. Non-ferrous metals include aluminium, copper, lead, tin and zinc, as well as precious metals like gold, iridium, platinum and silver.
What happens to my metals after you collect them?
When your metals arrive at our materials recycling facility, we will sort and separate them by type. Once sorted, we send each stream to the relevant reprocessing plant, where they will be shredded, melted down, re-cast and sent to manufacturers, ready to be made into new products.
Are there any metals you cannot recycle?
While most metals are recyclable, there are a few exceptions. These include aerosols and certain types of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) that contain hazardous waste metals. We can still collect these and advise you on the most sustainable way to dispose of them.
Is it worth recycling small metal items like clips or fasteners?
Absolutely. Even small metal items are valuable when collected in volume. Our sorting processes can recover these tiny components.
Do you provide documentation for our metal recycling?
Yes. We provide a Waste Transfer Note for all the metals we collect, giving you auditable evidence to support your environmental reporting and sustainability credentials.
