Plastics Collection and Recycling

A simple, sustainable and cost-effective way to dispose of your waste plastics

Plastics Recycling for Businesses of All Sizes

Plastics are frequently misunderstood, but most types are fully recyclable and can be recycled multiple times when managed correctly. At Printwaste, we offer a comprehensive plastics collection service designed to handle the wide variety of plastic materials commonly found in commercial and industrial environments.

Under the new ‘Simpler Recycling’ regulations, most commonly-used plastics can be recycled with your ‘Mixed Recycling’ bins. For businesses generating, larger or bulk volumes of particular plastic types we provide dedicated bins and collections. Our flexible collection schedules are built to seamlessly fit in with your operations, making disposing of your waste plastic straightforward and cost-effective while helping your business contribute to the circular economy.

From plastics to bales: Storage containers that simplify segregation and streamline operations

Every organisation handles plastic waste differently. In a busy office or retail space, it might be everyday plastics like bottles, pots and trays. In a manufacturing or logistics environment, large volumes of packaging film and wrap can quickly build up from production areas. We recognise these differences and tailor our plastic recycling solutions to suit your specific requirements. Our team will work closely with you to match the right collection approach to your space, operational flow and waste volumes.

How our Plastics Recycling Service Works

Step 1

Talk to us

Tell us about the volume of waste plastics your business generates, and where, or book a free waste audit with one of our experts at a time convenient to you. We will send you a bespoke proposal tailored to your requirements, showcasing how and where we can add value.

Step 2

Get your containers

We will provide a range of dedicated bins or containers to fit your available space and operations, making it quick and convenient to collect and store all your waste plastics until we collect them. We will label your bins to help your staff use them correctly.

Step 3

Collection

We will collect and empty your bins according to your schedule and transport your waste plastics back to our Materials Recycling Facility. After each collection, you will receive a waste transfer note to keep you compliant with all relevant waste regulations.

Step 4

Recycling

All the waste plastics we collect are sorted and segregated by type, then delivered to specialist reprocessing partners, to be recycled back into new plastic products or materials.

Step 5

Ongoing review

Frequently asked questions

The acronyms or abbreviations you see on labelling or in product information relate to the type of plastic they are made from. Some of the most common plastic types include:

• PET (polyethylene terephthalate) – drinks bottles and clothing
• HDPE (high-density polyethylene) – soap containers and milk bottles
• PVC (polyvinyl chloride) – window frames and drainage pipes
• LDPE (low-density polyethylene) – shrinkwrap and computer hardware casing
• PP (polypropylene) – buckets and medical equipment
• PS (polystyrene) – consumer packaging

Other common plastic-based materials include nylon, acrylic and polycarbonate. All of these can be recycled.

Recycling plastics keeps them out of landfill or energy-from-waste. It also reduces the demand for new plastic production, which helps conserve natural resources and decreases greenhouse gas emissions. Instead, your plastics get a new life through the recycling process.

No. We accept most plastics, but items heavily contaminated with food residue, hazardous materials or composite materials that cannot be easily separated may not be suitable for recycling. Instead, these would go through an energy recovery process. Just ask our team if you are unsure, and we will advise you on the most sustainable way to dispose of them.

Rinse drinks bottles and food containers to remove any residue and, if possible, flatten any bulky items to save space. Different types of plastic (bottles, pots, tubs and trays) can be mixed in your collection containers, as we will handle the sorting for you.

Absolutely. We provide a detailed Waste Transfer Note with every collection, documenting the weight of the plastics we collect. You can use it for your environmental compliance records alongside our collection reports to track your waste management activities.
