WEEE collection and recycling

Expert handling of your electrical waste
Electronic equipment plays an essential role in modern business operations. When these items reach end-of-life status they require appropriate processing. Under the 2019 WEEE Directive, all organisations now have a legal responsibility to ensure that waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is properly segregated, treated, and recycled by a licensed provider. Many electronic devices also contain sensitive, hazardous and/or complex components that require specialist handling.

Handling waste electricals with care is essential to maintaining compliance and site safety. From redundant IT equipment in offices to larger production machinery reaching end of life, we help businesses of every size store and manage WEEE responsibly. Following a site waste audit, our team will identify the most suitable container setup for your space and volumes, ensuring efficient collections and full compliance with WEEE regulations. Typical options include:
For Small Volumes
Ideal for offices or smaller sites generating minimal quantities of electrical waste. We can collect items loose, in bagged, or in secure two-wheeled bins for safe, compliant removal.
For Medium Volumes
Perfect for larger premises with regular WEEE output. Choose from four-wheeled bins (660L or 1100L), metal cages or pallet boxes — keeping waste contained, organised and easy to collect.
For Large Volumes
Designed for manufacturing or distribution sites producing bulk electrical waste. We provide RoRo containers or trailers to manage high volumes safely and efficiently on site.
We tailor your collection schedule to your specific requirements. We offer weekly or monthly collections for businesses that generate regular WEEE volumes, or ad-hoc services for one-off disposals or clearance projects. Frequently asked questions
What items are classified as WEEE?
WEEE includes any equipment that requires electricity to operate, from large cooling equipment and vending machines to small IT equipment and consumer electronics. The regulations cover items with a plug or battery, including computers, phones, televisions, kitchen appliances, medical devices, monitoring equipment and electrical tools.
What are my legal responsibilities as a business regarding WEEE?
Businesses have a duty of care to ensure all WEEE is handled properly. This includes storing it securely, using a licensed waste carrier for collection, and maintaining records of disposal for at least two years. Failing to comply with WEEE regulations can result in significant fines and potential prosecution.
How can I prepare my WEEE for collection?
We recommend keeping any equipment intact rather than dismantling it. Store items in a dry, secure location to prevent damage or theft. For data-holding devices like computers and phones, you should ensure all data is properly erased before collection. We can provide advice and secure data destruction services if needed.
Can I receive a certificate confirming proper disposal?
Absolutely. We provide Waste Transfers Notes after each WEEE collection, which serve as legal proof of proper disposal. Where items contain confidential information and have been securely destroyed, a Certificate of Destruction. For items containing Hazardous Waste, a separate consignment note is issued post-collection.
How is WEEE recycled?
WEEE is processed at authorised treatment facilities, where items are first assessed for potential reuse. Equipment that cannot be reused is dismantled, with hazardous components safely removed and treated. The remaining materials are separated into categories such as metals, plastics and glass, which are then sent to specialist recyclers who process them into raw materials for manufacturing new products.
Can small businesses use your WEEE recycling service?
Yes, our service caters to businesses of all sizes. We offer flexible collection options that can be scaled to suit the volume of WEEE you generate, whether it’s a few items per month or regular large collections.
