After net security firm Clearswift conducted a poll of 4,000 employees in the UK, Germany, USA and Australia, it was discovered that for £5,000 a quarter of workers would give out sensitive company data; this data could include financial records and customers credit cards.

After net security firm Clearswift conducted a poll of 4,000 employees in the UK, Germany, USA and Australia, it was discovered that for £5,000 a quarter of workers would give out sensitive company data; this data could include financial records and customers credit cards.

The number of employees open to receiving the bribe fluctuated to 35% when the offer price was increased to £50,000. However, there was a small minority of workers who were less money hungry and would be willing to sell information for as little as £100, according to the poll.

The opportunity to sell data is increasing due to employees having ready access to this sensitive information. 61% of respondents said they had access to private customer data, 51% to financial data like company accounts and 49% to sensitive product information such as patents.
