Service snapshot: food and drink cartons

Business RecyclingCartons

Food and drink cartons, especially the increasingly popular ‘Tetra Pak’ (a mix of paperboard, aluminium and plastic) can present a big problem when it comes to disposal. Many recycling companies are unable to process these and so they often end up being sent to landfill.

Recycling Food and Drink Cartons

Printwaste Recycling & Shredding are committed to environmentally friendly waste management solutions and in partnership with ACE UK, we can collect and recycle all types of food and drink cartons.

Nationwide Carton Collection Service

Printwaste Recycling & Shredding are the sole contracted ‘bring-bank’ collection service provider for ACE UK – collecting from carton drop off points at 600+ sites across England, Scotland & Wales. Using our fleet of specialist vacuum suction vehicles we are able to collect food & drink cartons from bespoke collection points and bring them back to our recycling centre in Cheltenham to be compressed into bales. From there, they are taken to Sonoco in Halifax and recycled into various products, including cardboard tubes, garden furniture, building materials & playmats to name but a few.

57,000 tonnes, 100% recyclable

In the UK, cartons are increasingly used for food & drink packaging and we use 57,000 tonnes of these a year, roughly 2.4kg per household. Made mainly from wood fibre, a natural renewable resource, food & drink cartons are a low carbon packaging choice comprised of 75% paperboard, 20% plastic & 5% aluminium, which can easily be recycled into new products, meaning that  nothing goes to landfill.

Printwaste Recycling & Shredding recycle all manner of waste that some think isn’t possible. Call or email us today and see how we can help with your problem waste!
